Generally, in cancert band, it`s closer to clarinet and alto, assuming the band even has soprano arrangments. Now, in the professional world, I imagine there is no "specification" at all

oh. I didn`t know what you meant the question that way. Soprano can use tenor and Bb clarinet. All three are in the key of Bb. But the octaves will be different if you play one piece with all three. Alto is in Eb, so thats why it sounded wrong.
Is this what you wanted?

I`ve only been playing for five years, but have gotten pretty good, though I wouldn`t dare compare to the pros here or anything. I do know quite a bit about musice, but Overtone? Jazz improve (im decent at that) I have a ton to learn. Also, these guys can sight read, it`s amazing. My sax teacher sight read this piece, its jazz etudes at 178 beats per minute, he played it perfectly (almost) once through, and i`m still perfeting it two months later. so, your from Briton?

I`m from the USA. I`m still in school. I`d say that I can play grade six on all saxes, though I still don`t want to challenge any pros. I`m just an Aspiring student.
