Lo all.
I recently returned from a Jazz and Big Band Camp and and have been inspired to play ALOT more improv and jazz!
I was just hoping if anyone has any recommendations of how to go about it, what artists to listen, it would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

Actually don`t listen to Kenny G. He isn`t a jazz musician. Some good artists to start with are: Charlie Parker, Cannonball Adderley, and John Coltrane. They were probably the most influential jazz saxophonists ever (especially Parker and Trane). Then of course the modern players like: Micheal Brecker, Kenny Garrett, and Joshua Redman are great too.

In addition to listening to some great saxophonists like Parker, Coltrane, and Sonny Rollins, you could really help your jazz playing by picking up the "Charlie Parker Omnibook" which transcribes many, many of Bird`s songs and solo`s. Also pick up one of the greatest jazz albums (CD) ever, Miles Davis "Kind of Blue" it really deals with modal jazz and features Cannonball Adderley and a younger John Coltrane on saxophone. It has some amazing improv solos on it.
