I`m sure he doesn`t hate saxophonists, or he wouldn`t play or be very good.
You have to love sax with a passion to be any good.

I believe a couple years back I saw some type of `mute` for a saxophone. Unlike a mute that is for a trumpet though, it is not inserted into the sax, because the air escapes out of certain holes, but actually encases most of the saxophone. So, really it would only deafen the sound, not really mute it. Not sure as to where to find it or anything like that, but along the lines of playing to loudly...no such thing. I get yelled at by my instructor (college student) for not playing loud...not louder, but loud. I believe I`m playing my sax loudly, but not enough I guess. Yeah, go with the 2 cents...PEACE1

For anyone out there who needs to mute their sax for practice purposses there is a website that may be useful. http://www.bill-lewington.com/silentsax.htm. It`s a gigbag that doubles as a practice mute and can reduce the sax`s volume by 70%. The bag runs about $90 but i think it`s a small price to pay for the abillity to practice anytime you get a wild hair up your ass. BUY IT, PRACTICE EVERYDAY AND CALL ME TO JAM. PEACE.

Found this website claiming to sell sax mutes. Never seen any like this before. Whether they work or not I don`t know. You can also buy mute bags which are padded gig bags with holes in for your hands but they really restrict the movement of your hands and are bulky. Never had the need for a mute myself.
