E G A E G Bb A E G A G E

this is the tenor music. i hope u no how smoke on the water goes...it`s just like the coolest rock song EVER! if u don`t ask a parent.(they`ll know) ps. this has 2 be played in the lower octave, genius!

Ohhh my guitar friend would murder you on the spot if she heard you talking about "smoke on water" like that. She gets real annoyed how people can think that playing the RIFF from smoke on water, is the whole thing...wheres this great guitar solo apparently. Meh.

Anyways, why don`t you go look down your local music shops? I`m sure they would have SOMETHING! Or do you take lessons? I bet your sax teacher would have HEAPS of music. Or if all else fails get some piano music and transpose it, I think alto is a minor 3rd up and tenor a perfect 5th up (but don`t trust me on that)

Good luck

If your looking for solo`s pick up the Charlie Parker Omnibook, always pick it up in Eb version no matter if you play tenor or alto (you want to play them exactly how Bird played them). This may seem difficult to play at the speed he did but, start real slow and work up. More stuff would be Jamey Abersold books. Also look up Presser music, I believe they have alot of contemporary sax music.

Hope this helps

yeah, the charlie parker omnibook is like the Bible for most jazz alto players i know (including ME!) but other books to try:
The Ultimate Jazz Fake Book (Great Book)
misc. books of coltrane solos (for tenor)
