Wow i`ve never seen a crystal mouthpiece...oooh the mysteriousness...I imagine they would be really slippery though and I`d be dead scared to get a dent in it man.

On the other hand I`ve played on a wooden mouthpiece before. They`re dead good, tone and everything. You just have to get a good one, i`d like to buy one soon

Righty, well I think the crystal ones have a bit of a rubber grip thing for your upper teeth, (from the pics i`ve seen) and crystal is quite durable, so while I would take extreme care of one, not much besides bashing it into a wall would hurt it.
Here`s a link. so... no for the crystal opinions.

Wildband,

Those are clarinet mouthpieces. Notice that this is a sax forum?

actually I Emailed them and fortuantly they aren`t $2K+
The prices may vary some, but for an alto (around this price anyway),
crystal $120
wooden $225

(US dollars)

I still havn`t played or heard one, but i`ll find a store and maybe try to order one or something.

I`ve never played on either, but Wooden mouthpieces have a pretty good reputation. Crystal mouthpieces have a nice clear tone but sound kind of awkward on alto or tenor. They sound quite nice on sop though.
