Hi everyone!
I'm currently volunteering at a school in Uganda (That's in Africa for those of you who are still working on Geography)for AIDS and war orphans. We've just had some recorders donated to the school which is fantastic. Now I can finally teach that part of the curriculum!!!

I remember recorder from primary school when I first learnt it. I've got the holidays to brush up on the skills.

The only problems are that I'm not trained as a music teacher, the school doesn't have any music suitable for teaching beginners (these kids have never read music before, we are about to start that this term, along with recorder lessons) and I haven't been able to find any free resources on the net for music scores etc. My budget for the resources is $0.

Is there anyone out there who could help me out with some downloads or good websites??? I'd really appreciate it!

Thanks,
Sazza

The only advice I can give you is to find some blank music sheets and wruite some music for the kids to learn. Pick a popular song and try to pick it out on the Recorder. Teach the kids the notes, make sure they can play them well and then begin teaching songs with notes they know. Make up songs spur of the moment if you have to and keep it fun!

Oh yeah, there are also some great, really simple songs here on 8notes, if you search them up, I think they have like "Row Row Row your Boat" and a couple others for free...
