blocked with what??? dried up spit or something more serrious???your message confused me a little.

for spit...
1) take the head of your recorder off, cover the bottom with your palm and blow hard though the mouthpiece, if this doesn't work try....
2) blowing the though the window and covering the bottom again (blow hard), if this doesn't work...
3) (only try with a plastic recorder!!!!!) soak the head in a bowl of warm (not hot!) water, shake of excess water dry naturally.

For anything else
1) very very carefully try and ease the blockage out (be incredible cearful. particualarly aroung the labium (it is very delicate and if you mess it up you will ruin the recorder). i have never had to perform this operation my self but i have been told that a long feather is the most delicate thing to use! (but like i say be very very carefull, and if it can at all be avoided don't)

That hole is not supposed to be covered up. If your recorder didn't come with a fingering chart, there are several online.
