I taught myself to play the recorder a couple of years ago and I`m not sure I`m playing it right. I still can`t seem to get the sound to come out right. It`s either the way I am blowing or the way my tongue hits the mouthpiece. Does anyone have any suggestions???

When you say the sound doesn`t come out right, how does it come out? A squeak? No sound at all?

There is a slight squeak sound no matter what note I play ... the notes are right and the notes come out right but there is still the squeak sound. Flip it`s hard to explain without hearing it. I think I do the tounging incorrectly.

You shouldn`t touch the mouthpiece with your tongue. Your tongue should hit the back of your front two teeth. The recorder should only just be in your mouth.
Maybe you`re not covering the holes properly.
Is that any help?
If not, how exactly are you holding your mouth? Also, are you self-taught? Post back with more info please.

It is also possible that you blow too hard or your fingers don`t cover the holes properly.
