I've been practicing on and off ( mostly off) for several years on a Yamaha plastic tenor. So I'm still a beginner. I downloaded and printed "Jesu,Joy of Man's Desiring from flutetunes.com and printed it. It's labeled as an " intermediate"level, but I figure if all I play are beginning music I won't advance as fast as I'm able. I also practice scales, arpeggios, scale variations, thirds, rhythms. The tempo of the piece is shown at 80 bpm. I practice it at 50 and barely have the chance to take a quick breath. What am I missing ? Is this where "circular breathing" ( which I've read about but haven't practiced is used? I now practice at least one hour every day, for the past 2-3 months.
