Can some one show me the fingerin` charts for playing any recorder?! i am gettin` one for X-mas this year and i was hoping that somebody could show me the fingerings for all recorders, b/c i don`t really know WHAT KIND i`m getting. please?!

p.s.- i already play the flute in the petal high school concert band, in petal, ms. 39465. i am always trying my hand at different instruments that are new to me as far as playing them right! please help me learn?

One of the things that u will need to know is how to hold the recoder.
LEFT HAND : The first threeholes on the recorder are for your left hand. Covering the first hole with your index finger will allow you to play a B; covering the second hole with your middle finger along with your index finger on the first hole will allow you to play an A ; covering the third hole with your ring finger along with your index and middle finger will allow you to play a G. A ll the while you must keep your thumb finger on the hole in the back, if you remove your finger your recorder will squeak. Never blow too hard, always blow gently and hold your recorder in an upright position.
There are a few more basic notes you can play using only your left hand. place only your middle finger on the second hole(which is where it always goes) and cover it. This will allow you to play a high #C(# means high). The other note you can play using only your left hand is the high #D. You play this by not placing any of your fingers on the recorder except you thumb which is suppossed to always be there.

RIGHT HAND : The last four holes on the recorder are for your right hand only. the fourth and fifth hole which is the first and second hole for your right hand is where you place your right index finger and your middle finger.. Covering these two holes along with the three holes for your left hand will allow you to play the E ; covering the fourth, fifth and sixth holes along with the three holes for your left hand will allow you to play the D; covering jsut the fifth and sixth holes along with the three holes for your left hand will allow you to play the F. the seventh hole is a little tricky and will require more skill which you will learn as you practice more. i have a 13 inch recorder and has 8 holes do you no what kind of recorder this is

At the front of the recorder, does it say Yamaha.My recorder is a Yamaha and it has 8 holes but its a little longer than 13inches. Maybe you can ask your music teacher because I`m not too sure.

well...actually....i don`t have one yet. mom`s getting me one for Christmas. closest thing to a recorder i`ve ever had was one of those cheapie $1 plastic TOYS....

Hi! I`ve been playing the recorder since 4th grade, and I am currently in 8th grade going to high school soon. One thing is for sure, there is no one type of fingering chart for all recorders. There are different charts for Soprano/descant, Treble, Bass, Sopranino, and there`s also the Great Bass recorder. All of which vary in size. Where did you get your recorder? Or if you`re getting one, do you know where it comes from? How big it is?
For my recorder, I play Sopranino/Alto.

Hi, there seems to be some confusion over the fingering/sizes of recorders etc. There are 9 basic different size of instruments from 6 inches to about 8 foot long (you need a bar stool to play this one!)Some of the fingerings you have been given are incorrect - but it`s nice to see how helpful recorder players are towards each other! There are many different makes, both plasic and wood, and equally many different prices! You need a good teacher as there is more to learning to play than putting your fingers on the right holes! good luck - I have had many years of pleasure from playing and have met loads of lovely people.

do any of you know where i can find modern music notes for the recorder?
I come from st helens in england and only learnt a few tunes at primary school as it isnt a very popular instrument around here.

I have a Hohner recorder, it has 5 holes and 2 at the end with a pair of holes, I got it from my school, but I cant really remember the notes. Can anyone help?
