Dear Sam,
I personally am an instrumentalist, but don`t quit reading this till I`ve said what I`m going to say. Because people don`t post anything interesting on this site. I`m not predijuice towards vocalists, but most instrumentalists feel that you guys are the stupidest, girlest musicians around. But, here`s what you do- go to some of the other forums on the site here, and look at some of the topics, reply to some if you want. That will stimulate your creativity, and you might get a good topic to post, or what I`ve seen the bassoonists do is make jokes about the other instruments. That`s one way to get replies and new topics out there on the boards. Give it a try

What would you like to see in this forum? Maybe we can try starting some more interesting topics.

Oh, and BTY, I`m an actual vocalist, too, mezzo-soprano. One of my favorite singers is Denyce Graves.

First of all this is a fairly new forum by the looks of things so the ball has to get rolling. Secondly, if you look at the other forums, which you should because they are informative and you can learn a lot from them most of the postings are about brand names, prices, and repairs.
As singers we are blessed to not have to think about brand names, prices, and repairs. Although we all have to keep our voices in good shape and this forum will surely become a great place to share such tecniques with one another.
Also people could post things about concerts that they are going to be in either as soloists or in choral groups or even church choirs.
This is going to become a great forum to share knowledge and maybe make some friends.
So be patient.

Hmm... as a college vocal performance student (that means I`m singer primarily) I`ve found instrumentalists generally dislike us because we are terrible musicians! Now don`t take that wrong, buuuut.... most singers have aweful rhythm and not-so-great pitch recognition skills. Did I mention about 50% of people that call themselves "talented singers" can`t read music?!? FYI, the ones who get the vast majority of the jobs sure can! (and they have good rhythm, sightsinging, musicianship, and music theory skills as well as amazing voices)
How`s that for a topic? :P
