Mixed voice is a balance of head voice and chest voice. Chest voice can be described in two ways. From a muscular point of view, chest voice is the utilization of the full length of the vocal folds. From a "resonance" point of view, any resonance felt below the palette or upper lip is considered chest voice. Any resonance therefore, felt above the palette or upper lip is considered head voice. In head voice, we experience a "release" of the "full cord" feeling of chest voice. Mixed voice occurs when you feel it in both head and chest voice at the same time. Using both head and chest resonance with a release of the full cord coordination into a "mixed coordination". This is not a style, but a coordination, a balance of muscle and air. Unfortunately, you will not know what I mean until you find a teacher that can get you into the coordination and you can feel it for yourself. Good luck on your journey.
