This year for Solo/Ensemble I'm singing Le Violette. It's fun. Definately not my favorite, but oh, well. Has anyone else sang this song, or heard someone sing it? Any tips?

Also, might I say that some (emphasis on SOME) of us clarinetists can be multitalented. The best singer in our school plays clarinet and she is second chair. Of course she sits next to someone who couldn't hold a note worth her life.

A rather belated answer:
"As I am laid in Earth" by Purcel from the opera "Dido and Aeneas", is probably the most famous aria in english, and should go down well.
If you're not hung up on English, but want to try a bit of German, there is a HUGE "Lieder" (art-songs) repertoire. For female voice you could look into Clara Shumann's work, Mahler is also worth checking out.
Alternatively, find some CDs by Barbara Bonney or Renee Fleming, they both have a number of recordings of classical "art-songs", so you could check out their repertoire.
(You're right by the way, it's nowhere near as busy here as it is on the flute forum )
