When i sing sometimes, my nose gets stuffed up and and tend to get very nasally. I asked my voice teacher a long time ago and she didn't know what the problem was. I was wondering if anyone here knew what I was doing wrong.
Thanks.

that happens when i play my sax sometimes, i think its a certian way you hold your mouth/tongue/throat and how hard or what way you are blowing the air out.... does that make since?

When you sing you should feel a buzz in your nose, but it shouldn't plug up, unless you have a cold; then if you are singing correctly, this should feel terrible! However, the reason your nose probably is plugging up is because you are raising the back of your tongue up. Be sure to keep a nice open space in the back of your throat. This means lowering the tongue, raising the soft pallet (the soft part which is the top back of the roof of your mouth), and lowering the lyrinx (aka, adams apple). This can all be done by relaxing into a 'yawn', if you touch your 'adams apple' area you should feel it gently lower. Keep your eye brows slightly raised to keep the soft pallet up and try to emagine you have a hard boiled egg half swallowed in the back of your mouth:-)

Wow. Thanks for the response. It's really helpful. I have another question though. Should any air come out of my nose when I am doing all these things? Thanks!
