I'm not sure if anyone else had this problem, but I take a vocal class and it seems like just as I start to get somewhere, I get sick again with something in my throat. I wanted to know if anyone else has this problem and what I could do to stop this from happening all the time. I don't share my water and I wash my hands all the time. I really don't know why I get sick so often. Any ideas?

You should consult a doctor or an othorhino.

I'm no doctor, but common sense tells me that if you get throat problems every time you take a sing class:

- You could be using a wrong technique (probably a bad professor??)or
- You have some problem that could require medical attention.

Do not take that lightly, if you are serious in your singing career, you could suffer irreversible damage if the problem remains unattended.

If you have the opportunity, try changing your sing professor for a while and see what happens.

Your report of symptoms is vague, but yes you should see a doctor.

Can you be more specific about, "just as you to get somewhere:?

More specific about "sick again with something in my throat".

What 'sickness' are you getting? Is it just an inflamed throat? On the simple side, you could be dehydrated if you are not drinking enough water. It could be you are singing incorrectly so that when you rest and it gets better you hurt it again by signing incorrectly. Also, if you are opening or relaxing your throat as you sing better you are increasing exposure to your throat and could be irritating it, especially if you are sensitive.

A friend of mine just had his tonsils taken out last week, at the age of 42. The mouth is a cornucopia of bacteria and other germs. Many, many germs have access to your body through the mouth (that's why you should never share a toothbrush - not even with your spouse).

Nothing is as good as a doctor who can see what you are getting. Even if ytou don't have insurance it would be a worthwhile investment to pay to see one when you get sick next time.
