I don't know the name of a certain vocal technique. It's hard to describe but it's sort of like "grinding" your voice for lack of a better word. An example is in Kenny Loggin's Danger Zone http://youtu.be/yK0P1Bk8Cx4 at 1:22 "high as you can go." He uses the technique on "go."
Some tips on actually using this trick would be great, too! It's so challenging and I end up sounding a bit like chewbacca.. Thanks!
