I thought I would put this out to remind everyone to do your homework and get the right work done on your instrument by the right people. Get good recommendations and follow through with them. Don't go to the cheapest just because they are cheaper.

The reason I bring it up is because I just met with a friend who is not happy with work done on his horn.

He wanted to have a screw bell conversion. He did his research and decided on company A. I agreed with his selection and told him he could not go wrong with them. This week he brought the horn to me. He was very unhappy with the work done on his horn. I looked at it and was shocked company A would do such work. "well", he said, " I found company B could do it in a weeks less time and for $75 less and I would n't have to ship it." To make things worse he took the horn to company C to try and fix the problems from company B. I don't know why he felt rushed as he has a good back-up horn and he knows he can always borrow one of mine if he needs to.

Since last year I have had 3 friends come to me to get their horns fixed after they took their horn to company C. All of them asked me where I thought they should take their horn and I recommended someone else and always said Don't go to company C. But they did and I have ended up fixing them correctly after they were fixed "incorrectly".

Get the right work done by the right people.
