I want to buy a new horn and these are the two possibilities that I have:
1. Buying a second hand, 6 year old Yamaha 667d for 2,250$
2. Buying a brand new Yamaha 567d for 2,924$
What do you think would be the right choice and why?
thank you very much!
p.s.
Im a student and not a professional player.

Hey, thank you very much for writing me back!
I've been playing for almost 6.5 years and this year I am going to graduate high school.
I live in Israel, and here everybody has to go to the army, so I still have two years of serving in the army before I would have to decide what will I do in the future, but any way the horn that I own right now is rented and I really want to have my own horn.
Hopefully, I will still have enough time to keep playing while serving the army, and I am planning to keep taking private lessons.
Living in Israel makes it very difficult to buy a second hand horn, since I wouldn't be able to know for sure that it is in a good condition and will have to rely on what the seller would tell me about it.
Actually one of the main considerations that I have depends on the money issue. My budget stands on 3000$ maximum and this is why I deliberate between those two horns, since both of them has a similar price, more or less, but both of them are probably in a different condition and maybe one of them can suit me more at this point of my life.
Thanks againg, it helps me alot!

Oh yes, Israel conscription.
Good luck and be as safe as you can.
Have the seller send you some pictures. Ask the seller if he can do the 'pop test' for you and see if they hold for 3 seconds. Even if they don't it might be okay, leaking valve certainly help with slurring.
As far as condition of the valves you will have to trust the sellar on that. If you end up getting the 667 and the vavles aren't fast enough there is something you can do at home to speed them up. If you can do a field break down of a M4A1 then you should be able to do this. If you are half-way mechanical, have a screwdriver, hammer, and a torch (borrow a cigar torch from a freind), access to acetic acid or German Vinegar, and about a half to a full day I can walk you through the process. Just goto my website and send me an email.
Something else you might think about. Perhaps get the 567 (it will be in known new condition). Later you can look for a used 667N, 667ND, 668N, or 668ND. Buy one of those and then sell your 567 for $1,000 ish. I really prefer the sound of the Yamaha Nickel horns to their brass ones.
No used horns for sale locally in Israel?
