Hey, do any of you know any books that have short exercises which progress and develop to improve fingering coordination and articulation.

i remember playing something from a book once which involved a simple scale patttern (CDEFGFEDCDEFGABC*BC*D*C*BAGABAGAGFEDC) the starred notes being up the octave. I doubt that anyone here recognises it but basically you started of tonging all of it, then played it staccato, then legato, then the first note staccato, the second legato etc. there were unlimited possibilities and it really helped getting your fingers around the notes as well as lip and finger speed.

but yeh does anyone know any books like this which i can just play through (i am working on Gr.8). thanks alot

You can look into Arban - Arban's method will last a lifetime, quite literally. And people have used it on all instruments, I've been using for all of my brass myself, horn included.

Fussell has a method book out for band and orchestra that has all the scale rhythms and form in it. Althogh it was designed for group study I use it all the time with my private individual students.
