I have been playing the french horn since 6th grade, and I am a senior in high school now. Ever since, I have been playing on the horns my schools provided me with. Realizing that I would need a horn of my own (since I want to play for fun in college), I was looking around for horns. I found a guy with a fairly decent playing Olds double horn, and I played it for a few days, and I loved it (since the school horn I'm playing on is a Yamaha 567). He offered it to me for the price of $300, which I couldn't turn down. It is a really nice horn in my opinion, and I am just excited that after 6 years of playing the horn, I FINALLY HAVE MY OWN! :D

I found your posting very interesting because I'm looking to buy a double for my 5th grader. She's talented, and her teacher says she's being limited by the single Yamaha that she rents from school - needs a double, and our district doesn't rent them. I was looking at a Yamaha 567 to purchase for her (used, but still over 1500), and it seems from your post that you felt that a 300 Olds was a better horn than the YHR 567.
