I currently play trombone but i love the horn...whenever i get to play i use my friend's Olds, and his old holton mouthpiece, it just doesn't fit. I'm getting my own horn soon, but don't know where to start as far as mouthpieces. Any suggestions? Or good places to start looking?

Are you saying the mouthpice shank doesn't fit into the mouthpipe reciever? It could be either the shank is worn or the reciever is worn out.

If you are going to be playing both the Bone and Horn I would suggest getting a custom set up. Get a Tenor Horn rim and cup made to fit a french horn. The tenor rim will be a bit larger so should make the transition a little easier between the two instruments.

I love Moosewood mouthpieces and I am sure Tom could do you well, however, I also know that Stork has done some very nice custom mouthpieces just for this reason. You can go to www.storkcustom.com and send an email telling him what you want to do, and what I suggested above.

oops should have clarified that. It fits the reciever, I meant the mouthpiece just doesn't really fit my face/embouchure
But thanks for the tip, i'll check out those customs as well as whatever my music store has in stock
