I have a Conn 8D from the 1990's which I LIKE but also have a C series 6D which has a beautiful sound. My brass quintet colleagues like the sound of the 6D but I don't think I can get the "ring" sound I want- I can overblow the 6D. The 8d is a bit trickier with intonation- really have to work it while playing. So the questions:
I've heard people talk about changing out the leadpipe- Lawson is what I hear about most often. Has anyone played on the Lawson leadpipes from Beckworks? Is it worth the $1200? Anybody have any experience with the McCracken leadpipe on a Conn 8D. Thanks for any help in the decision making........and yes I've thought of trying to buy an Elkhart......but I kinda like my current horn. Thanks-
