Hey Everyone!!

Have you guys heard the song "Take Five" by Paul Desmond (made famous by Dave Brubeck)?? If so, I was wondering if you could help me by telling me what speed to play it. I used to play it at a fun, energetic speed, but it didn't sound very good when I played the higher part (the notes jump around from flats to naturals). I now play it at a slower speed, which sounds good, but I like faster songs. Any suggestions??

Thanks!!

I want to play it faster, but the pianist I play with gets off beat with me.

Play it how it's supposed to be: fast! I think the tempo is around 152 beats, or something; a pretty good speed. The pianist should be willing to play faster...

I have a painting on my wall called Take 5. A classic classic modern jazz piece. It's probably the most played jazz piece since "Linus and Lucy" from Peanuts by Vince Guaraldi.

For other great piano jazz check out Bill Evans Trio, and you will find things of the same flavor of jazz. This is all 60s jazz.
