Hey guys,

I just wanted to share some II-V-I jazz backing tracks - bossa nova style!

Here's one for C Major http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hzFozbN3uk0

Chord progression:

II Cmaj7 II Cmaj7 II Dm9 II G13 II
II C6/9 II C6/9 II Dm9 II G13 II

In theory, you can play C major scale all over this, though preferably outlining the chord tones/arpeggios:

Cmaj7 arpeggio = c e g b

Dmin7 arpeggio = d f a c

G7 arpeggio = g b d f

Playing C Major scale will result in C Ionian (Cmaj7 chords), D Dorian (Dm7 chords) and G Mixolydian (G7 chords) - all the same 7 notes...

Next up, try out some more advanced colours on the dominant chord (G7/G13) by using the

G diminished 1/2-1 tone scale = G Ab Bb B C# D E F (G)

///////////////////////

Here's one for C Minor II-V-I http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=crf6XbWeZmQ

Chord progression:

II: Cm9 I Cm9 I Dm7b5 I G7(#5) I
I Cm9 I Cm9 I Dm7b5 I G7(#5) :II

Arpeggios:

Cm7 arpeggio = C Eb G Bb

Dmin7b5 arpeggio = D F Ab C

G7 arpeggio = G B D F and G+7 arpeggio = G B Eb F

Scales:

C Minor Scale: C D Eb F G Ab Bb (C) - works on Cm9 and Dm7b5 chords

C Harmonic Minor Scale: C D Eb F G Ab B (C) - works on G7 chords

Next level for the dominant (G7) chord:

G Super Locrian: G Ab Bb Cb Db Eb F (G)

This is the 7th mode of Ab Melodic Minor...

There's loads more on http://www.youtube.com/QuistTV and http://www.jamtracksmania.com

Enjoy...

Nice!
There's another site I reccomand for accompaniment, that has tracks for more than a few jazz standards:
www.groovery.com

You can find there tracks for Miles Davis, John Coltrane, Wes Montgromery and the gang.. (to name a few).
