Are you familiar with the Jamey Aebersold series? There are currently over 100 book/CD sets in the series.
The first few books in the series have a list of scales to go over certain chords and progressions (like II V Is). It also gives you tips on how to improvise. The cool part about the sets is that they come with corresponding CDs, so you can play along with a rhythm section to give you experience.
Later books in the series feature mostly a different artist, and they have about 8-10 songs for that musician. They have it transposed for Bb instruments (like trumpet), Eb, and bass clef instruments inside the same book, so there`s no need for transposition. At the beginning of the book, it lists what scales go over different types of seventh chords, and if there`s an awkward chord (like an augemented seventh or a flat ninth), they will give you a special scale to use right there.
Hope this helps. Good luck, and happy improvising!

Jazz improvisation is a feeling, yes you must know your scales but you must have the feeling. Get a book on blues scales first. go to this web site (a passion for jazz) transpose the scales for your trumpet. You will be on your way
