I am in our Jr. High jazz band, and I play first part. As some of you know, that most of the time that the 1st part has the main theme or part to the music. How can I get or feel more of a jazz feel while playing the main themes, and also on my solos.

Try to get into the music as much as posible. During solos, never tence up and try to swing it as much as you can.You should feel asthow youre a part of the music.I play saxophone and I`m in 7th grade,what intrument do you play.

I play the trumpet. I`m also in 9th grade. But yeah, I`ve been in our jazz band since 7th grade, and I do try that, but yet, I want to, and feel that I can do better on it.

I know that you`ve been playing longer than me, but I`m in 7th grade, first alto. I`ve won a couple of awards though. What I try to do is listen to everyone else, play with them and then make them play to you. Especially with the trumpet, you can run the band. Another thing, just feel the music.
