Hey everyone, I was hoping I could get some help tracking down some songs so I can add to my limited selection of rock songs. I am more of a rap listener, but I've been downloading more and more rock lately.

I am mostly looking for moderate to fast paced rock music anywhere between like the late 60s and now. Generally looking for peoples favorite songs that like the music I like.

I never had many rock cds growing up, the few I used to listen to are:
the police
billy joel
REM
pearl jam
...(can't even think of much else)

my parents used to listen to:
the eagles
the doors
pink floyd
the beatles
etc.

So I am kinda familiar with that era in rock music and some music from those bands.

I've looked at a few "top 500 rock music" charts, most of them have music I'm not really into.

Here is my current favorite songs that I've found just searching around or stuff I've had. Top 20 or so are my favorites:

classic rock - Kansas - Carry on my wayward son
Blue Oyster Cult - Don't Fear The Reaper
More Than a Feeling - Kansas
Sting & The Police - Message In A Bottle
Billy Joel - Only The Good Die Young
Better Man - Pearl jam
Paint it Black - rolling stones
Don't Stand So Close To Me - the police
25 or 6 to 4 - chicago
Kansas - Dust in the Wind
My Sweet Lord - George Harrison
New York State Of Mind - Billy Joel
The Eagles- Hotel California
California Dreamin´ - The mamas and the papas
Time Won't Let Me - The Outsiders
Heart Of Gold - Neil Young
Billy Joel - I'm Moving Out
Chicago - Baby Please Don't Go
Peace Of Mind - Boston
Witchy Woman [evil woman]
Somebody to Love
White Rabbit
Beach Boys - Good Vibrations
Mamas and the Papas - Monday, Monday
Doors - People Are Strange
Touch Me
Tom Petty - Free Fallin'
Black Dog
Another Brick in the Wall, Pt. 2
...etc etc etc

Have a few more pink floyd, led zepplin, and doors songs, I'm sure I'm missing at least a few good ones though.

Honestly I'm more interested in the music than the lyrics (though good lyrics does add to it). Songs with a good melody and a strong beat, good chorus.

It's really the less popular bands with 1-2 really good songs that I am interested in. Just going through the top 500 charts and downloading nearly everything, I discovered about 10 bands I never heard the name of but knew their songs.

Of the ones I've found, I think I'd like more songs from:
-Boston
-Chicago
-Kansas
-bands like pearl jam
-probably more eagles songs
-led zepplin
-pink floyd

But again, any other suggestions would be really appreciated.

Any suggestions of places to go look for songs myself? Maybe a site that has lots of previews of rock songs (so i dont have to download them on kazaa and then delete them). Or maybe a more accurate top 500 list with more of the songs I'd enjoy without all the overplayed hits.

I dunno, lets see what you guys come up with Thanks for the help.

My favorite song is either ONE LIFE or Funny Bunny by the pillows, and I love The Beatles.
