In your opinion what is the greatest rock band of all time?(let`s make this not including the Beatles, because they wouold be pretty close on everyone`s list, I wan`t a lot of variety in everyone`s answers not just everyone put The Beatles, even though I don`t call them the best ever)

Ah hell, I won`t even bother commenting on your hate towards the Beatles.
If I had to choose it`d be:
a) Queen (Freddie Mercury`s voice is fantastic, as is their music in general)
b) Muse (no comment needed, I hope)
and
c) Radiohead (although they`ve recently been on the rock/electric side I still adore them...).

I don`t know how you can call linkin park and good charlotte even close to the best rock groups of all time. Listen to linkin parks guitar and drum parts, two year olds could play that. I was waiting to tell everyone who I thought was until someone else said one of the two I am thinking of. THe best has to be queen or rush, without a doubt.

I agree with Olga - Freddie Mercury was amazing (I listen to Queen all the time!)
I also love Linkin Park and Meatloaf. I`m not that keen on the Baetles from what I`ve heard of them, but that isn`t much.

Ringo. I have just read your reply. We were asked what groups we liked and we have given answers. This does not mean that any are right or wrong, it is a matter of opinion. If someone likes Linkin Park then they are entitled to include them in their answer, even if you don`t like them. I myself have included them in my first reply.
On a much lighter note, I`m glad that you had sense enough to include Queen in your answer.

I agree I was just saying man. I never said that I didn`t like Linkin Park and Good Charlotte and all. As a matter a fact they are some of my favorite, I just don`t think they qualify as the best. If you look at the post what`s in your cd player right now I actually have a linkin park cd in. I guess if you think they are the best you can think that if you really want to, but if you ever never heard some of the older bands you should take a listen. Like how I included rush, have you ever heard there drummer, no drummer has or will ever be as good as him. I just want to get it straight that I like those bands, just don`t think they are the best.

I definetly think the Beatles are the best band ever, just look at their output:

Rubber Soul
Revolver
Sgt. Peppers Lonley Hearts Club Band
The Beatles (white album)
Abbey Road

those are their 5 best albums of 12 they released, and they all regularly make best albums ever lists, and the fact that they were only together, as a group, releasing albums for 7 years shows how amazing their achievement is. There really is noone better.

But seeing that we cant include the Beatles....

The Smiths
The Rolling Stones (not including anything released after Exile On Main St.)

Ya, you have to have led zepilen nd the who to add to my original list. Maybe even the rolling stones has had a big impact, even though I don`t like them, but everyone else did. I will poonder some more and see if i can think of anybody else.

As much as i like Queen, I dont think they are in that elite league of the best bands ever...none of their albums were trully groundbreaking. But, in May and Mercury, they had a great Guitarist and Singer (although they are as good as Page and Plant)
