Could these 2 bands be the greatest to ever rip the stage? I definitely think most people hate on em because their cuts KILL most bands out there.1

I certainly don't think so. The Beatles, Clapton (Cream, Blind Faith, Derek and the Dominoes), Allman Brothers, Zeppelin, Rolling Stones, and many more are higher up in my book. Especially if we are talking about rock and roll, because neither of them fit the genre. On top of that I think that Manson has some serious mental problems, and he is so messed up in the head that his music was never appealing to me.

calx, you don't know good music. PERIOD. All slipknot does is play in drop c or d and scream all the time. Marylin mansons slightly better, but not much. Listen to some RUSH, then talk.

I like mansons music. Mechanical Animals is a great album. And joey (jordison?) and corey taylor did some pretty cool stuff in slipknot. But you said they are the best two rock bands. Best at this time? or in all history? I can't that they are without any superiors. You could call me a guy who 'should listen to something after 2000'.... if I didn't like Audioslave, Muse, Alterbridge, Black stone Cherry, pearl Jam, black market radio, Staind, R.H.C.P., Velvet revolver, winterville, Queens of the stone age, Monster Magnet, the nightwatchman and Primus. I've listened to music from the 50 years of rock, and although everyones oppinion is different, you'll find theres probably many more millions of Rolling Stones fans than Slipknot fans. You could argue that number of fans isn't a measnure of tallent...but, you know, in this case IT IS!

Alright, I'm not trying ro badmouth your music. I'll try to be more sympathetic. I listened to more slipknot, and I just don't get it. From a band with 7 or more members, I expected more. There songs sound very symaller, drop, D, fast tempo, lots of double bass drum, and screaming. That's it. I'm not saying they suck or I'm right, but from a musician's point of view, they're not the greatest of rock and roll.

I guess I should have !****!ed with a heavy metal forum, problem is no one really posts on those sites.I've realised that this is a touchy subject!
just don't say I don't know good music cause' MANSON and slipknot are to me what RUSH are to you.maybe one day when you grow up out of puberty you'll realise that! or one day I'll grow up and and leave manson and slipknot and buy your album!

yeh i'll agree thats weird. but who said you had to be sane to write music? Most rock and blues music is written about negative emotions like heart break and anger anyway. If it's not insanity then its drug addiction thats behind a lot of music.

I don't remember saying MANSON or SLIPKNOT were the greatest bands ever...I would never say that cause' I will admit that most tracks on the IOWA album were crap and meaninglessly boring, some of MANSON's tracks like 'the beatiful people' and 'heart shaped glasses' are terrible songs.
For me to rate a band as the greatest of all would mean that I must love each and every track that band has ever produced...which is !****!in impossible!
