People like "u all suk Jen" frustrate me more than anyone alive. Nirvana were not a bad band but those idiot fans who put all the songs in their top ten list by nirvana are just blatantly stupid, and i feel embarrassed for them. To speak generally, the majority of Nirvana`s obsessed fans were as stupid, pathetic and plain silly as kurt was himself.
On a list that is trying to seriously debate the best songs of all time, do not waste space with your ignorant irrational toilet of an opinion.
p.s Sorry to waste the above space with my ignorant irrational toilet of an opinion.

This was a tuff one because there were many songs that I love and hated to eliminate. After careful consideration, here is my list plus quite a few honorable mentions that I had to include.
Note: It was difficult enough to come up with a top ten list so my honorable mentions are listed alphabetically according to artist.
TOP TEN:
1. Billy Joel: Captain Jack
2. One of My Turns: Pink Floyd
3. Mother: Pink Floyd
4. Comfortably Numb: Pink Floyd
5. Hotel California: Eagles
6. Paradise City: Guns and Roses
7. Bohemian Rhapsody: Queen
8. Here I go Again: Whitesnake
9. Hit Me With Your Best Shot: Pat Benatar
10.Shot Through the Heart: Bon Jovi
Honorable Mention:
ACDC: You shook me all night long
Billy Idol: Dancing With Myself
Billy Joel: Piano Man
Bob Seger: Old Time Rock and Roll
Bon Jovi: Some Day I’ll be Saturday Night
Don Mcllean: American Pie
Genesis: Land of Confusion
Harry Chapin: Cats in the Cradle
Kid Rock: American Badass
Limp Bizkit: Break Stuff
Metallica: Nothing Else Matters
Pink Floyd: Brain Damage & Eclipse
Pink Floyd: Learning To Fly
Twisted Sister: We’re Not Gonna Take It
Red Hot Chili Peppers: Under the Bridge
Rolling Stones: Satisfaction

gee for some1 who hasn`t been into rock for very long you have picked some damn good songs. However there are better metallica songs than those you listed. The following are metallica songs that would be worthy contenders for the best rock songs ever title:
Nothing else matters
Master of puppets
Fade to black
One

Coolest rock songs. Ever.

1 Walk This Way- Aerosmith- guitar riff rocks and the original solo is so cool; has the whole bluesy `Don`t give a f***` attitude that is Joe Perry. Both the Run DMC version and the original are cool.
2 Slither- Velvet Revolver- again, cool solo and riff. And Slash. `nuff said.
3 Sweet child of mine- Guns `n` Roses- cool guitar solo.
4 Bat out of Hell- Meatloaf- The only `Wagnerian` experience I can stomach.
5 I would do anything for love- Meatloaf- Amazing arrangement of the same material over and over again for twelve minutes. And it still sounds good.
6 Stairway to Heaven- Led Zeppelin- Kinda mandatory for guitarists. Cool riff and guitar solo. And I never thought recorders could be cool. Bit repetative... or is it hypnotic?
7 Hotel California- Eagles- cool acoustic guitar part and solo. I kinda like the story in the lyrics too.
8 Money for Nothin- Dire Straits- cool bluesy main riff. On a Les Paul... Woho...
9 Train Kept a rollin- Not sure, Aerosmith? Yardbirds?-Brilliant riff, easy to improvise over.
10 Decadent Dance- Extreme- cool riff and Bettencourt makes good use of sweep picking to make some wonderfully obscene sounds in the second verse.
11 (Cause I`m into Spinal Tap) Sympathy for the Devil- The Rolling Stones- this is the only song I like of theirs; it`s got everything from Latin feel in the percussion to electric guitars and kick ass lyrics! What more do you want?
