Obviously, there will never be an accurate top ten list compiled by people with such strong (and different) opinions on music. What you people need to realize is that there are f-cking awesome bands that led revolutions and influenced music for almost a half century, and there are sh-tty ass bands that have been around for less than years that had one mediocre song. We can`t accurately write a top ten list because each individual person has that one band that they consider their band. That one band they put in the stereo in the morning, in the car, and listen to at night. I agree with the obvious choices (zeppelin, beatles, hendrix), but every band has something that made them a great band. For kiss it was, and is, the great show they put on. For acdc, its the raunchy, crunchy, dirty rock. For nirvana, its the start of a new movement in rock. I could go on...but you get my point. What I do want to say is that whoever said limp biskit and linkin park needs to clean out their ears, the sh-t`s clogging them. Also, play guitar...you`ll find out very quickly which songs have merit and are worth your time to learn. Dont waste your time with crap. But to each his own. Oh yeah, i almost forgot. Aerosmith could take a little more recognition...classics(walk this way, dream on, sweet emotion)...great live show...new blues turn...HOWEVER I REALIZE THAT THEIR POP SHlT WAS JUST THAT...SHlT. dont get on my case.

The best band out there right now is probably iron maiden, metallica, beatles, led zeppling, yngwie malmsteen, and black sabbath is alright

Okay first of all Guns and Roses is not one of the greatest bands of all time. They were just an 80`s fad. I great band is decided by insturmental talent, vocals, loyal following and impact on the world of music. So Here`s My List:

1. Beatles - No argument their music left an imeasureable impact on music in general. Almost every song they released was an instant hits)
2. Grateful Dead (In my opinion i would put Grateful dead on top of the list but i dont wont to stir trouble. The Grateful Dead had one of the biggest fan followings ever. Jerry Garcia is a rock legends and is one of the top 3 guitarists of all time. The dead rocked hard stretching some songs to a full hour. Their inovative style and the genius of Garcia allowed the band no equal)
3. The Rolling Stones - The Rolling Stones have the same story as the beatles in that almost all their songs were hits.They were loud, energenic and inspired many to come)
4. Bob Marley and The Wailers - Bob Marley was a legend from the first song he released. He was a musical genious and went on to inspire many.
5. Led Zeppelin - When people think of Hard Rock they think Zepplelin. Led Zeppelin brought a heavy unique sound, a great loud front singer (plant) and crazy riffs and licks from the master Jimmy Page)

i dunno what the hell all of you guys are thinking but i am a bassist and i have been playing for 9 years and none of you guys mentioned the rawest fricking band to ever set foot on this earth. Not only was the bass and drum section one of the tightest in music they had energy that was incredible and their bassist was a chick. maybe you guys will realize one day and dont reply tiill youve heard a bunch of this bands sstuff but although i love zeppelin , gratefuldead, the clash, the rollling stones , the who and stuff. I personally believe the PIXIES are the greatest band of all time.

I agree that it is impossible to create a list of the best bands of all time, because people have such differing tastes. However I think I have some that are pretty good.

Styx -- One of the Defining Arena/Prog Rock bands.

Dream Theater -- Heavily influenced many modern bands, but mainstream music industry avoids them

Buddy Holly -- Predates Beatles as defining Rock

Beatles -- Dont need to say anything (although i dont like em they were still influential)

Red Hot Chilli Peppers -- Been around forever (as lots of bands go)

Rolling Stones -- Nuf Said

Queen -- interesting is a good word

Don`t get me wrong, I love ACDC, Metallica, Disturbed and Guns N` Roses, but that doesn`t make them the greatest. what makes a band the greatest is the bands and artist ability to last through time and still keep the later generations, who never saw even an album release of the band rocking. thats how we know that there music is the greatest ever. thats why i know that the bands i chose are the greatest cause i listen to them more than i do to the new stuff and i`m 14. (and limp biscut and linkin park suck the biggest c*ck ever!!! holy shiit, who put that on!)
