Are u doing programme notes on your performance diploma or associate degree?
U can read up yrself.
There`s alot u can write about these compositions.
But I`ll tell u some of the important things.
-Fur Elise was written for Beethoven`s student, Elise. Beethoven had 2 students, Elise and Gerturde( I can`t remember how to spell this name ). He wrote Gerturde`s Waltz for the later.
-Pathetique was named by the Editor, not Beethoven.
C minor was Beethoven`s Strum and Drang key, and if you`re gonna talk about this, then u`ve got to mention about his OP 10 no 2 as well ( also in C minor ). In fact, the op 10 was Beethoven`s first sonata in C minor, which thereafter led to something more substantial, the Pathetique.
-Moonlight was named by the Editor also, not Beethoven.
And if you`re doing a paper on Beethoven, ( esp about his sonatas), then you`ve got to remember that his work is generally classified into 3 major periods:
1 The epitome Classical
2 The experimentation years
3 The radical..or his late years.
But there are scholars who have further subdivided them into 5 periods.

whoops, just wanted to correct a small error I saw.

Pathetique WAS named by Beethoven, one of the few. That his one of the beautys of it, he captures the pathos in the music so well.

ok bye.

Sorry, yr right.
It was named PathÈtique (touching, moving) by Beethoven, one of only two sonatas to be named by the composer.

Both of those pieces are clearly advanced. However, I believe that Pathetique is harder because it really requires a lot more concentration and emotion to come through when you play. The notes themselves might not be hard to thump out, but to get the actual musical quality, you have to do a lot more work for that one.
