What are Unequal Fifths?

A Diminished 5th preceded or followed by a perfect 5th in the same pair of voices

When do Unequal fifths occur mostly ?

Are Unequal Fifths bad or good?

Are Unequal Fifths best in the outer voices?

yeah perfect fifths. organum is consecutive perfect fifths (whuch like consecutive octaves) is usually considered a "no no" well.. in four part SATB chorale writing, but queen use it in bar 65 of Bohemian Rhaposody. that is all i know really about consecutive fifths and orgaum etc

it is ok between the alto and the tenor, but consecutive fifths are not good between the soprano and the alto, or the between the tenor and the bass

Thanks for the information

Are consecutive perfect fifths like parallel 5ths i thought parallel 5th was really bad?

A Organum has no 3rd so its not a minor or major tonality is modal?

Are Organums based on parallel 8th also and modes?

Parallel fifths are remnants of four-part chorale writing from Renaissance/Baroque periods. Traditionally, it`s avoided. Bach did break that rule a few times, but, in general, it is a no-no. Parallel octaves, however are quite common (think of all the doubled voices in counterpart writing). I`ve no idea what "unequal fifths" are.

Oh, also: parallel thirds are also common. Also, I probably wouldn`t cite Queen for justification for counterpoint practices.
