broken chords.. are well broken chords. From what i understand by the term alberti bass, it is a keyboard method of an accompaniment and the way in whcih it differs from broken chords is the notes are arranged in the form of 1.lowest note 2. highest note 3.middle 4.highest again. it ios a repeated pattern.i am not entirely sure but i think alberti bass is more liberal in the fact that it is not specifically subjected to the three notes of anyone chord, where as broken chords would be. on an interesting note, an ostinato bass is similar, although less smooth and more jumpy. (similar also to piano vamping and oftern assocaited with jazz music)
an alberti bass can be used with any chords but of course they have to be in harmony with the piece they are acccompanying- and harmony is a whole other branch!
