Hi there, yes there are many books on conducting - some to do with physical technique (beat-patterns) and some the philosophy and interpretation. Start with Conducting Technique by Brock McElheran - described as for Beginners and Professionals it is perfect for everyone! It does what it says and is clear, helpful, with excellent exercises and diagrams; also relatively cheap (£11, OUP 3rd edition, I think). Rudolf - Grammar of Conducting; Scherchen - Handbook of Conducting are much more advanced, but excellent, too. Depends if you want to conduct choirs, orchestras, bands, etc.? Good luck, Ludwig.
