I'm a newbie to classical music, and I'm trying to identify a tune that's been etched in my mind for years. I believe it to be from a very popular piece, but I haven't been able to find it so far. A very rough MIDI of the main melody is at http://www.dogsleep.net/UnknownButGreat.mid

Does anyone know the name and author of the piece? I'd be eternally grateful to you if you could tell me.

I'm really sorry, I have no idea...I'm kind of new to Classical music too.....I'll have a search around, and see if I can find anything for you.
