I played the trumpet for 7 years and the horn for 3. My biggest regret is not playing it longer. I haven`t played in YEARS! My 9 year old daughter wants to start playing now. I have seen different kinds of French horns on ebay and such.........my question is this...... Are the ones that have the "take off bell" any good? To me that would mess up the sound. What you guys think?

I don`t believe the detachable bell changes the pitch whatsoever. The detachable bell is really good though because it makes the intrument more portable and less space consuming. Some of which run for more though. The choice is yours.

Free sheet music is really difficult to find online for intruments. And free music for the French Horn is even more rare. I`ll check around though.

Friends,
Georgia State University is making a national search for talented young horn players; both at the Undergrad and Graduate levels. They have $ for scholarships and work study. The Professor of Horn is the lovely Miss Julie Spencer, a member of both the Atlanta Opera and Ballet orchestras.
You can read more about her and the School of Music at:

www.music.gsu.edu

Please pass the word to your horn-playing friends.
Trombone content: I always stash a few bucks for talented young trombonists, too:-)

Thanks.

hello. french horn players. There are some great leather bags for french horns at a fraction of reunion blues´ prices. they are currently only being sold through ebay. just go to ebay and do a search for "allegro bags". I think it´s worth it!

CHAO!

Here you go Nick. http://www.wwbw.com/Dynasty-Model-M540-Marching-Mellophone-in-F-i73047.music There is a Dynasty Mellophone. I use a school Mellophone but the two other people in my section use the Dynasty Mellophone that can be found by going to that link. That bought them the summer before last and they`re really good horns.

Also, I was wondering if anyone had a recording of Concert Rondo K.371 I`m playing it for solo and ensemble and would love a copy if anyone has one.

Thanks much.

Joey

To perform a "sharp" turn on french horn you play the note, play half a step above it, play the original note again, and then you play half a step below the original note.

For a B flat trill you would go from B flat to A. Most trills usually go up, but this one this one goes down. (Feel free other players to correct me if I am wrong).

I hope this helps you.

Also, I did manage to find a recording of Concert Rondo K. 371.
