Thanks for the information, it probably will work, but the first time I tried playing it slow I couldnt even get the notes very right. I think I should just play it slow like you said and get the notes 100% correct so then I can try playing it fast.

I`m 13 and I have mastered this piece back around December 2003-January 2004. I play this song around 200-205 tempo and for anyone who needs help I have excellent advice:
1. Playing slowly is essential, however you might want to try playing it slow memorized.
2. Try accenting certain notes. For example, instead of the 1 of each sixteenth (1e+a), you can try doing the e (1E+a) or the + or a. Another difficult one is trying to accent every first third (1 23 1 23 1 23). This is a great way to exercise the weak fingers to memorize the notes.
3. Try playing the song on a hard surface (ideally the wooden covering of the piano or a table). The slower the better.
4. Using your wrist, try to make a "wave" motion with the right-hand part. Start from the air and descend down playing the notes and then finishing ascending. This flexible motion makes the piece much more smooth, moving, and easier. It is not necessary for the left-hand, but if you want to you can.
This song was a very nice piece that I thought at first was hard, but I mastered it. With this song I entered the Georgia Piano Auditions (I passed the regional auditions for my county.) It`s a nice piece and if you master it as well you will see how "cool" it is.

Yes! I love this piece. I first learned it when I was studying as a youngster...even scored highest possible in Michigan for grade level with this one!
As an adult (I`m 33 now and teach piano in NYC) I still love to play it as it is so whimsical and light and fun.
If you challenge yourself you can work up to some pretty intimidating speeds which add new challenges as well as change the whole mood of the piece. I play it presto possible for my own entertainment and it keeps my fingers in good condition as an exercise.
BUT, what I`m most curious about is finding the DUET version that I had the pleasure of playing while attending the Interlochen Arts Academy. Has anyone heard of this and where it might be purchased??
Thanks
-Louis

Here`s an interesting tidbit about Bach`s Solfeggietto:
The pianist Byron Janis performed it on a Pittsburgh radio station when he was six years old. He had only been playing the piano for six months.
Of course, now he is much older... if you have a chance to hear his recordings of Rachmaninov (esp. the 3rd concerto) they are wonderful.

yeah, i played this song a while ago and like it alot, and the best midi i have found on the net is here:
http://c64forever.tripod.com/midi.htm
it`s on there somewhere and is played on the piano, which i feel sounds better than a clavicord (at least for this piece).
