Hi. I was wondering if anyone knew the specific meanings of instruments playing at parts in songs. OK, that sounds waaay confusing. Let me put it this way: I`ve heard that the oboe plays at times when there is sadness. What times do other instruments play?
If that was just too confusing, don`t worry about replying, but if you know what I`m getting at, please answer!!
Thanks!
*PEACE*OUT*

Uhh..................
I know what you mean...Don`t know about the oboe.
But, well, choral music does its work in movies like The Lord of the Rings.

Come on, the violin is used most of the time for the sad, depressing moments. then you have your string emsamble for the building suspense, the trumpet solo for that hot day on the beach, but the oboe is mostly used as the add on melody, in cheery songs and sad songs.

I agree with Ric. The strings are used to build suspense. The woodwinds are used to add the melody. The brass bring that kind of Jazzy feeling into the music without actually using saxophones. Anyway I love orchestral music.
