hi, ive been taking piano since i was 4 or 5(im 14now).. ive always loved music.>(i want to go to university for piano) I take 6 INstruments already.. but SINCE this summer iV gotten a new piano teacher and now im starting to dislike piano.. but ive worked so hard the past 10 years im going to a highschool for advanced arts for piano dance and sax.. but if i dont like idont like it as much as i usedto whats the point... right now im playin revolutionary etude and i like it.. but im not aloud to work on it with her.. she only lets me do conservatory and theory and i have to practice it an hour a day(without the theory.. thats extra) and i got all my peices perfect within the first week but she usually focuses most on theory and i have hour lessons once a week.. ive been with her for about a month now and i havent even passed a song yet and theyre perfect! please help i really do want to become a profecional piano player and perform and all that but.. i dont know.. is theyre any songs or anything to listen to or anything to do that will get me to like it again.. .. i think im getting a new teacher for august.

The great thing about being a musican is that we are self motivated. Fire your instructor, buy a bunch of books and learn yourself. But if you like having an instructor then find a new one. My Sax instructor doesn`t like Jazz. But I love it and do it behind his back.

yeah i get what you(ric) meen about doing things behind your teachers back -sight- my one wantes me to do 2 to 3 pieces at a time and easy-middle size pieces
the thing is i would have stoped years ago (course that isn`t true coz i haven`t play for sutch a long time...)but instead i do 10 6-7 pieces at a time and play middle-difficult pieces so that`s what you(jen) should do to keep on playing the piano:do what you want, remember you know better than the teacher how you feel about the piano
