Barber`s Andante for Strings is depressing... I heard it live at a symphony once and I nearly started crying.

you ought to try Prokofiev`s Op4 No3. It`s nicknamed "Despair", and it`s really really eerie and unnerving.

Try out Liszt`s Nuage Gris. Very easy best and one of Liszt`s most depressing.

rachmaninoff`s prelude in C-sharp minor, and the first movement of beethovens moonlight sonata, chopins funeral march(the famous one, i dont feel like looking up the opus),and as someone else said look at rachmaninoff`s stuff a lot is pretty dark and gloomy. theres plenty more out there just look around.

you can`t forget about Tchikofski`s (sp) Pathatic symphony or whatever it`s called. The one that was written like just weeks before he died
