I taped this song off the radio years ago as a kid, and since I missed the beginning of it I never heard what it was and would love it if someone could identify it so I can get a CD quality version. A short sample in .au format can be downloaded by visiting this website.

Yikes!
The radio 3 "building a library" all time favourite recommended recording of this piece is by Anne Sophie Mutter with the Berlin Philharmonic on Deutsche Grammophon-I think she was 15 at the time. Find it at Amazon - having heard it it is absolutely gorgeous - interestingly Karajan takes some parts far slower than normal but it doesn`t sound slow- just gorgeous.

I`m playing that third movement! I`ve already played the first and know I`m studying the second. It`s beautiful. The third`s quite tough to play.
