Serenade - Musical Definition
Serenade - A serenade (or sometimes serenata, from the Italian word) is a musical composition, and/or performance, in someone's honor. Serenades are typically calm, light music. The most popular definition is a kind of evening love song, sung to the beloved, such as the famous example Deh vieni alla finestra from Don Giovanni by Mozart. Later the serenade lost the courtship aspect, and became primarily a collection of light dance movements.
