I selected the hymn “It Is Well With My Soul” to represent the people who lost their lives on the Titanic. The opening figures were written to represent the swirling water and wind. From under the turmoil of this motif comes the beginning of the hymn and when it is fully stated, the turmoil of the wind and water resides to give the piece the calmness experienced after a tragedy.
