This song was my final project as I was studying South Asian folk music in a small town in the foothills of the Himalayas in northern Pakistan. Based on a musical scale and rhythm popular locally, I created music to accompany one of the Zabuurs (Psalms) in the old Panjabi hymnbook. The original music accompanying this particular hymn had been lost and forgotten. This piece was then played in a national music festival in the capitol city in 1998. It is dedicated to my youngest daughter, Kari, who was born in Pakistan. She is currently a 5th grade student at Mission Avenue Elementary School in Albuquerque, New Mexico.
