On August 17, 1978, a team of hot air balloonists from Albuquerque made the first successful attempt to navigate a balloon across the Atlantic. The general aviation airport on the west side of Albuquerque now bears the name of their balloon, "Double Eagle II", as does this march.
What better way to salute a hot air balloon than with a big flute section? This piece for concert band has optional parts for an integrated full flute choir: Piccolo, Eb Flute, C Flutes, Alto Flute, Bass Flute and Contrabass Flute.
