About Me
DMITRI CAPYRIN (b. 1960) is a Russian composer. He graduated from the Moscow Music College (1979) and the Lviv State Conservatory in 1984. He lives in Moscow and works as a freelance composer. He participated in master classes of Poul Ruders and Edison Denisov and at the workshop of percussionist Gert Sorensen in Denmark (1992). In 1994 he was awarded the 2nd prize at the composition competition ICONS 1994 in Turin, and in 1995 received a scholarship from the Berlin Akademie der Kunste and spent time in Germany writing his stage work "Incarnation of Colour". In 1996 his composition “Dreams” for Symphony Orchestra has got Honorable mention in the International Competition of Musical Composition in Besancon, France. In 2005 he was the finalist of the International Henri Dutilleux Composers Competition, Saint-Pierre-des-Corps, France, 2010 - Finalist at the YouTube Online Composers Competition. Capyrin`s works have been performed at a number of foreign and domestic music festivals Almeida in London, Presences in Paris, Warsaw Autumn, Zagreb Biennale, Moscow Autumn, Another Space (Moscow), Melos-Ethos (Bratislava), Contrasts (Lviv), NovAntiqua (Cologne), Tage Fur Neue Musik Zurich, ISCM World New Music Days (Zagreb) etc. at contemporary music concerts in France, Germany, Holland, Denmark, Austria, Luxemburg, Switzerland, Sweden, Italy, USA, Latvia, Ukraine, Russia and were broadcast by many radio stations Radio France, Deutsche Radio, Dutch radio, Radio of Chicago, Croatian Radio, Radio "Orfei" (Moscow), Radio "Echo of Moscow", Radio Kyiv, Russian Television. Among the performers of his music are Moscow Contemporary Music Ensemble, State Svetlanov Symphony Orchestra, Russian National Orchestra, Da Capo Chamber Players (USA), Croatian Armed Forces Symphonic Wind Orchestra, Kyiv Sinfonietta, the pianists Ivar Mikhashoff and Mikhail Dubov, the saxophonists Claude Delangle and Christoph Kirschke, the bassoonist Valeri Popov, the cellist Alexander Zagorinski, conductors Vladimir Jurowsky and Fedor Lednev etc. He writes music for symphony orchestra, chamber ensemble, solo instruments, choir and voice, for theatre productions and musical computer games.
