I taught myself descant recorder at the age of 10 (school classes were always full) and started learning the flute at age 12. I used to be very busy with my music as I went to Selston Concert Band and Nottingham Symphonic Winds as well as playing for school and taking part in local competitions (flute). Things slowed down when I went off to uni but I have recently picked it all up again as I am going to be running a recorder club in a school.
