I played horn in high school, college, and the 30th U.S. Army Band. Then, for the next 4 decades rarely had time for horn as I worked as a telephone company electronic switching specialist and later as a unix (computer operating system) system administrator. I retired in October, 2009 and picked up my horn again. I`m practicing some almost every day and hope to soon find a orchestra/band/chamber group to play with.
I live in Benicia in the San Francisco bay area in California, United States.
I was born in Holland and came to the US when I was 9 years old. I can still speak & understand Dutch, though not very well.
I own a "Meister Karl Dressel" horn, the only one I`ve ever seen or heard of. It is a Bb/F compensating horn with mechanical keys and a detacahble bell. It was bought by my parents in 1961 when they were in Berlin. They said it was smuggled across from East Berlin. I am looking for a 2nd horn, maybe a new one, maybe a used one. If/when I find it, I`ll get my Dressel horn fixed up as much as possible. I worry that it might not be playing as well as it should.
