Missy Elliot's Get Your Freak On uses the sound of an Indian Classical instrument called the Sitar.
For anyone who doesn't know, it's like a guitar, but
with a lot more strings. The percussion in the background of this track is also Indian (tablas).
The main background pattern is a 5 note phrase which is more percussive than melodic:
